An old sewing workshop with a director's residence is being transformed into an office space (ground floor) with residential units above. In total, two duplex apartments (approx. 170 m² each) and one studio (approx. 70 m²) are being added. All units are positioned and equipped with well-thought-out window openings and views in a way that does not create any disturbance towards the communal inner garden, ensuring privacy in both directions.

The existing driveway to a rear plot is being covered (studio) and converted into a semi-public stairwell entrance area. From here, a staircase covered by the extension leads to level +1, culminating in a communal terrace providing access to the 3 residential units. The office space on the ground floor maintains a separate entrance near the street.

The architecture of folded roofs subtly references the archetypal industrial architecture of the past, adding dynamism to the inner garden and enhancing the spatial experience of the apartments hidden behind. The front facade is finished with dark glazed wall tiles, seamlessly positioned to align with the structurally bonded glass panels. This facade finish is starkly contrasted with the white lime-washed masonry of the inner courtyard.

The expansion volumes will be structurally built as steel and timber frame (CLT).
